Frequently asked questions and short, informative answers.
What is the psychological support process?
The psychological support process is a professional process that makes room for a person to understand more closely the emotional, cognitive and relational difficulties they experience, to make sense of them, and to develop more functional ways of coping.
What is covered in the first session?
In the first session (and even in the first three sessions), the reason for seeking support, the nature of the difficulties experienced, expectations, and what the process is meant to achieve are generally reviewed. These sessions help to establish an initial framework for how the process may take shape.
On which topics can psychological support be received?
Psychological support is a process that can be sought for many topics, such as anxiety, stress, emotional difficulties, relational difficulties, recurring life patterns, the need for self-awareness and similar concerns. Suitability is evaluated together in the first sessions, depending on the reason for seeking support.
How often are sessions held?
Session frequency varies according to the reason for seeking support, needs and the nature of the process. The appropriate interval between sessions is planned together after the initial assessment.
Are online sessions available?
Information about the online session process, its suitability and the technical framework can be obtained by getting in touch. The suitability of online sessions is evaluated in line with the reason for seeking support, the needs of the process and technical conditions.
Is online therapy effective?
Research shows that online therapy and remotely delivered psychological interventions can be as effective as face-to-face sessions in many areas, particularly for symptoms of depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress. However, a single method may not be equally suitable for every psychological support process; suitability is evaluated in line with the reason for seeking support, the level of risk, the person’s needs and the working framework.
How long is a session?
The length of sessions may vary according to the framework used, but is generally 45 minutes.
Is the number of sessions known in advance?
For Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the number of sessions ranges between 12 and 16. For psychodynamic psychotherapy, the number of sessions is much higher. However, it should be understood that the length of the process may vary depending on the reason for seeking support, goals, needs and the nature of the topics worked on. For this reason, it cannot be said that the number of sessions is the same and fixed for everyone.
Which therapy approach or school is used?
The work follows an approach that draws on cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic psychotherapy theories and schools. The appropriate framework is evaluated in line with the person’s needs and the reason for seeking support.
How is it decided which therapy approach is more suitable?
The choice of therapy approach is made not only according to the name of the method, but according to the reason for seeking support, expectations, goals and the nature of the process. This assessment is addressed together in the first sessions.
